What's the Craziest Thing You Have Photographed?

I captured this odd looking creature in the water at the edge of the river. It took me a long time to identify it as a Mayfly Nymph, mainly because I didn't realize it was an insect. You may also know it better as a Fish Fly.

Once I discovered it was some sort of nymph, identification became more difficult. Google "nymph" and you'll understand...

Mayflies lay their eggs in water. When the eggs hatch, the nymphs live in the water for up to a year, where they molt 20 to 30 times. During the final molting stage, they already have functional wings. Then they emerge as a cloud of bugs that are a pain for bikers, fishermen, or anyone living or travelling near the water.

The lifespan of the adult is only 30 minutes to one day and their primary purpose is to mate and reproduce. Once they have died off, you often see bridges coated with their dead bodies.

What's the craziest thing you have photographed?

Interesting creature... We call them lovebugs around here. They are "born" in the final stage without stomachs. As was mentioned above there is only one appetite they want to satisfy. The glue that binds them together makes it almost impossible to remove from the front grill of my car.

Craziest thing? That would be me...

There are birds (crows, hawks, etc.) that drop nuts and shellfish to crack them open but, does a ribbit need to be cracked open?
