What would you do?

Shooting portraits on location...

A client wants to have their session at a park - the park charges $$ for photography sessions .. do you pay for it being the photographer or charge the client?

I would add it to my fee just like travel and other expenses not covered by my normal pricing. Of course I'd discuss it with the client ahead of time.

Yea I was thinking of adding it to my normal session fee. Just not sure how the client will take it.

Since it sounds like the client pick the park, I would have them pay the fee. If they don't want to pay the fee, tell them to choose a different location.

As long as the client is aware, it is absolutely proper. Suppose they wanted the shot aboard the QE2. Would you eat that cost? You have a photography fee PLUS travel, site, special props and other fees that should not come out of your pocket. The client wants it, the client should expect to pay. Otherwise, you could be shooting for nothing.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

:agree: If the client wants it, they should pay for it. I'm there to photograph their portraits, not to fork out extra fees on a location they want.
