B&H Photo annual revenue

8 months 4 weeks ago #621348 by Chantel Nasbur
I was just looking at what I have spent with these guys in the last 2 months and can't help to wonder how much revenue this place pulls in each year from photographers.

I don't suppose this is public information is it?

No real reason, just curious.

Henry, you want to comment on this figure?

LOL

Seriously, it's a privately owned company.  Likely not public information.

Yep, for all business, theses figures are most sensible
information. Let's just say that I would like to retire with
the rent they pay monthly!

Light is free… capturing it is not!

I seem to recall a few years ago this came up. I want to say $100 million

Without any supporting data (i.e. facts) this number has zero value.

And what difference does it make, anyways? And it's a poor question. Does the OP refer to gross revenue, net, what? B&H sells a lot of products; do we care about the entire business, or photo-related only?

Would be interesting to know for about 3 seconds. Honestly, I don't care what it is.  Just keep the free shipping, great service and oh yes, offer some sales!

I'll help with some supporting data.  :)   Just because I'm on holiday for 2 weeks and the question yanked at my curiosity too!

www.bloomreach.com/en/blog/2016/03/bh-ph...-the-amazon-era.html

"As a private company, B&H isn't required to publicly report its revenue, but a 2012 story by The Business Journals reported that online sales were about 70 percent of total sales. That proportion may well have changed, but if it held in 2014, the company's total revenue that year would have totaled about $166 million.Mar 10, 2016"

I think I'd better not. :-)

And that was 2014.  5 years later, interesting.

Well it could be argued that figure could be lower as well.  Isn't camera sales down in recent years?

Canon 7D, 18-55mm, 55-250mm, 70-200mm L f/2.8, 100mm and 17-55mm f/2.8

DSLRs (and P&S) have tapered off, but the reasons are positive. Many like me are getting a lot of longevity from our cameras, unlike the early digital years.
I think mirrorless are doing well.
