Light L16 - DSLR-level image quality in your smartphone?

5 years 3 weeks ago #638428 by Ira Weber
This I find interesting.  Didn't these guys struggle with creating this technology with a much larger sized camera body?   And now they can all of the sudden do this in a super small smartphone?

Anyone buy into this companies claims and try it out?  I thought they filed chapter 11 last year.

A quote from Light 16 review — "On the upshot, I do have a new found appreciation for how good the cameras I own really are. It’s like returning a terrible rental car and falling back in love with your car, all over again."

Light is free… capturing it is not!

Read that twice and yeah there is some serious depth to that remark!  Been there and done that with the rental car!  Kind of works the same with a cramped  hotel and you get home and love being home again.

Because I wanted to.  This is a forum right?  People discuss topics, and seeing that this was a photography related item, I didn't see any harm.  Google includes what it has, I was looking to be part of a discussion, not read about it.

Okay. I was more wondering what precipitated the post.

Everything I've seen about that device leads one to view it as a novelty, kinda half-baked, and ultimately vaporware. I never heard a mention of any other form factor, however.

IMO anyone that thinks they've got a killer app for DSLRs or mobile phones is seriously deluding themselves. But that's just me.

Let the discussion commence.

All good.  Well it seems like they went through all that tough times, then went a semi different direction with what looks like a new devise.  So they went from a brick size camera to smart phone size.

Even at the smaller size, I can't see this catching on.  The gap between what is available at that price point and what they offer isn't wide enough.  Nor compelling enough.  Investing into that company on any level is like arranging the chairs on the Titanic.

I never understood this camera to start with.  Very strange and  seemed over engineered for little gains over what  was on market already.
