Wedding photographers - f/2.8 or f/4 for 24-70mm?

My wife is going to give professional photography a shot.  She's been shooting weddings here and there, and this year going to make a run at full time.  She currently has a f/4 24-70mm and on the fence about getting the f/2.8.  Do you find you can get away with the f/4 or has the f/2.8 been a strong investment for you?

When it comes to lenses, aperture is the keyword in her case.

I suggest to go for the ƒ 2.8 because it is capable to autofocus
better in difficult situations. An other point is the focus falloff at
wider apertures — aka bokeh — not to mention the lesser strain
on flashes eventually.

All my lenses (16) were selected that way, from the 14 mm ƒ 2.8
to the 600 mm ƒ4. Lenses are the most important investment in
photography. One will acquire more bodies and possibly upgrade
them but lenses stay way longer in the bag — for example, my 600
is 30 years old and it is combo'ed to a three year old D850.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

Agree, plus the f/2.8 will be much better at lower light
