Benefits of a bettery grip?

I don't see the point of these. I can grip my camera just fine without a battery grip. Just seems like more space and more weight.

Am I wrong? What am I missing?

I thought so also till last weekend when I met a fellow using the same set us as I but he was using the battery grip that I never use. He demonstrated how the added weight helped balance the camera better (long long lens) and it aided as a arm rest for free shooting (you would have to see what I am talking about here). The other advantage is the extra buttons that you can use. So he made a believer out of me. Granted I have never missed a shot because of battery life, but the other advantages made me consider bringing it the next time, I have it anyway why not try it. If only you could plug in some extra cards into it and not miss that shot because of no film!!!

:agree: I use on on my XSi and love it. Almost never a battery worry and the stability, especially for a vertical shot, is a major asset. I got the Zeikos from B&H (half the price of the Canon and ratings as high or higher). Yes it does add weight but can come off in a few seconds if you're going on a hike and want to lose some weight.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Besides what they said, the camera with the MB-10 is just easier to hold. Plus the FPS is higher with the additional batteries.

No matter how fast I go, there's always someone slower in front of me.

Really? How much faster will it become? Like I have a D300. If you know I would appreciate your answer.

According to the owner's manual, std is 6 fps and with the MB-10 and the right batteries 8 fps.

Thats 120 more pictures in 1 minute.

Agreed.

One thing though, it can make it harder to fit the camera in certain bags. But I'm not sure I'd like to use a camera without one again.
