If you are just going out to run some errands or just go on a drive, will you bring a external flash with your set up?

I never usually carry one. If I know ahead of time I need one, it goes in the bag...........

Why so serious?

Mines always in my bag or on the camera just in case. It is useful although I do have the benefit of the 7D being able to fire off camera flash wirelessly so there's minimal mucking about setting it up.

I carry it but usually think of it after the fact. Hind sight being 20-20 and better illuminated!

The only time I have one with me is if I know ahead of time I am going to use it for a specific photo shoot, other wise not in my bag.

Almost every time I take my camera with me "just in case" I'll take my flash as well. I'll either take a small camera bag that holds the camera & flash and anything else I want, or if I want to reduce gear I'll just hook the flash pouch on my belt.

One is in my camera bag. If I take the bag, I have it with me.

Agreed. Took it on a shoot yesterday that includes several "flora" locations On the south shore of Fundy and it never left the bag.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

If I expect my subject matter to only be scenic or landscape I don't usually bring a flash. If there is any chance of people as subjects I usually do. I can fit my DSLR w/ 50mm, a 430ex speedlight, and the IR remote in my smallest camera bag. It's what I'll be carrying tonight.
