South Africa is 21st with infections on the world list.
We were In lockdown early. Although China built a hospital in a week, it took us 5 weeks to plan public buildings as hospitals. Disgusting. A huge blow to the economy. 3 months later, most hair dressers are bankrupt.
59 mil population.
65000 infected, 39000 recovered 1423 dead, 69 yesterday. We are still building to our peak.

I have no pain. The 1918 Spanish flu was a pandemic. 50 million dead, far less people in the world.
The effect to the economy is worse. It will take years.
I am not blind, the affects is gross. I can only see my parents (92) over a distance.

Lots of racial tention here. We expected more, but the black military killed a few black people during lockdown and govt want to walk away from it, so it is getting more attention at the moment.

I was just reading that they may have vaccination this year.  What happened to FDA approval?

Hassner, you are correct.  The effects of this to the economy won't recover for easy 5-10 years for most.  It's the worse as some have indicated since the Great Depression.

We are on stage 3 now, no traveling between provinces (states) without a permit.
So we have road blocks to control Covit rules, however crazy.

Did you do anything this weekend?  Are you in the city or more urban living?

Not much to do when at my age. We go to fairs, coffee, shops and restaurants. All closed now. I did smuggle some wine on Saturday a 40min drive to get there. We have an alcohol sales and transport ban Thursday night till Monday morning. We had a take-away coffee on the way.
Sunday “church" on Zoom and a braai (bbq).

My father has been making his own beer for years, last time I was home I tried it and it was very good. Have you tried making your own beer?  As I understand, it's a fun process and it passes time.

People made pineapple beer when alcohol was banned.
Apparently it leaves a huge hangover headache.
No, never tried it.
I am quite happy to buy.
So many micro breweries popped up.
Awful stuff.
If they study it and make crap like that, I’m not even going to try.
So what is your other hobbies, except board games and beer making Pinkie?

Oh I don't make beer, my father does.  As for me, I read a lot.  I'm a bit of a foodie. Wether I'm cooking or before Covid, going out to eat all over.  These days I'm obviously doing a lot more cooking.  I actually like fishing, although these days, I don't get out as much as I wish.  But I do.  Let's see, what else?  Bicycle riding almost daily.

How about bicycling?

The problem with making beer from your home is that is stinks.  My neighbor brews his own beer or a number of them, and he has this strange odor always coming over from his place.
