Lunch not dinner. :)

I actually don't get nauseous hearing/reading/seeing gross stuff. Smells might set me off though.

Oh, I like that.

Sure, practice makes perfect but, unless you learn from your mistakes, you are only perfecting your ability to fail.

If gross doesn't bother you you could be a NURSE cuz nurses discuss things over lunch that would make a billy goat puke

I have a kind of problem.

I want to buy a 105mm macro (no question I'll get this lens).

Thing is, do I need a 85mm Sigma and a Gitzo tripod (same as Scotty's... we're both above 6" so the nice tall tripod he got suits us both).

Or just the Gitzo tripod?

Or something different?

I have a semi large paying job coming and I "need" some tools. LOL

Also, D700 or wait?

As a tall person I would say get the tripod and the 105 , then the D700 to go with it all . The 105 will be a good portrait lens as well so you won't need the 85

Yeh I hear ya. I just like the look that 1.4 gives you. That shallow DOF is just so nice.

The reason why I'm thinking the 85 is because of shots like this:

Taken for a client, not my kid. :)

This is a 50mm f/1.4 shot. I love the shallow DOF for such a simple shot. Light coming in through the window only.

Thing is 50mm on this sort of shot tends to make the head look a bit big (and noses) fine for a little kid, but adults not so much.

Still it can wait. This job doesn't really NEED a 85 1.4 and as you said the 105 2.8 will make a pretty good portrait lens.

I'll take a tall Alexander Keith's Red. None of that sissy Redneck Beer for me ( that was the description giving by a British bartender of Coors light).

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.

Having a bohemian beer a friend made. Excellent.
