Crumpler camera bags vs Vanguard

How do these compare? I'm looking for a messenger bag and have noticed both of these companies brought up here. I have one camera body and a few lenses.

Hi Scott,

I will say the Vanguard line of bags are very well crafted and won't be a disappointment. Think Tank and Lowepro make some very nice bags also, however I don't have personal experience with their messenger bags. Hope this helps!

Oh thank you for the tips! I'm wondering if the Uprise 38 would be too big for just one camera body?

Here's a review I did of a crumplier 7 million dollar home to PT vanguard 38 bag.

My review on PT.

I hope this helps, be sure to leave a comment.

Just a vote for Crumpler. I have the Whickey and Cox photo backpack (a rucksack type) and it is extremely well made. I bought it used on eBay, and it is just right for me - comfortable over long distances, and the back panel opens so that you put it down on the side that isn't against your back when you put it on again (if that makes sense!)

I do like the open top access of the Vanguard bag, I'm sure that will come in handy for quick access of camera.

Scott,

If you're interested in an UP-Rise messenger bag but are worried about UP-Rise 38 being too large, you should know it's the largest messenger style bag in the UP-Rise series. UP-Rise 28 might be a better choice for you. It holds a camera with standard lens attached and up to two additional lenses (or a lens and a flash). You can see all of the UP-Rise bags here: www.vanguardworld.com/index.php/products/list-1-1-4.html

Another messenger style option would be our Sydney series, which also features top access and comes in three sizes. It's available in two colors. www.vanguardworld.com/index.php/en/pv/pr...ts/list-1-1-133.html

Hope that helps!

Eric

True. I carry 2 bodies (one with grip and 70-300) in my 38 . plus 50mm, ext tubes, teleconverter, and filters. hat gets a but tight so for a single body. The 28 or 33 would be ideal depending on the lens you normally have mounted.
The quality is outstanding and the top access is a major plus. Great bag.

Shoot, learn and share. It will make you a better photographer.
