Either way you’re trying to go, Photo Book Press is a great online printer that has a specialty program for designing a wall of art. They call it “Display Your Own Wall Art”, and it’s pretty cool to work with.
In today’s article, I’ll discuss how to create your own wall art using Photo Book Press as an example of how partnering with a quality printing company can help your images come to life.

First off, here is an idea we’ve wanted or needed for a while that actually works. Design Your Own Wall Art from Photo Book Press lets you choose from three different templates: One-print, two-print, or four-print wall art displays.
Here’s how it works: Select the number of prints option you want, upload your image files, add text to the images if desired, arrange the layout how you like it, choose backgrounds or borders if you want those, and let the online program show you some options of sizes and layouts. There’s a tutorial to walk you through it, or just start playing with it on your own.
It’s a lot easier to get going than even that previous paragraph makes it sound. Before you know it, you have an order that will come directly to you and a template of how you’re going to put it all up. If you want to change how it goes up once you have the acrylic prints, the choice is yours.

Do-It-Yourself is always an attractive alternative method for us creative types, so here’s some ideas of how to design your own modern wall art display with all sorts of prints, styles, and sizes. Here’s the thing, it doesn’t all have to be the same type of print or even all photography!
What I like to do is to find some of my photography image files that have a similar theme, color palette, or style, and then play with them in a virtual staging program designed for real estate. You can get really fancy with some of the excellent paid programs, or you can do it online for free with the Android or iPhone app Homestyler.
While the free app is fun, you can get super detailed with any of the paid subscription programs. I would recommend looking at these anyways if you offer any commercial or private real estate photo packages. (Unless you’re selling your own home, don’t use the programs that charge you on a per print basis, because that can get expensive for simply designing a modern wall art display.)
Some of the things to think about for the DIY approach to creating your modern wall art display are how big to make the prints, how many prints to make, what other type of art to mix in, and how high you should mount the art.
While eye-level viewing is the standard default for wall art, modern wall art displays can use the entire wall area or any part of it that you want to use. You could go from the floor up diagonally, switch directions, divide the wall into segments, or even use photo composition techniques to create an interesting look.
Rule of Thirds, Symmetry, Negative Space, Leading Lines, Golden Spiral, and other composition ideas all have a place in wall art displays. Use those staging programs to move things around. You could use a sketchbook as an alternative, or even your own large-screen computer monitor and a post-processing program to get an idea of how things will appear in real life.

Why Use Acrylic Prints for Modern Wall Art

Acrylic prints are tailor-made for using in your modern wall art display since they are a totally modern method of photographic printing. Acrylic prints have an interesting depth of viewing, need no other frames, and look great when made from interesting colors and contrasts, all of which fit into the ideas of what is modern art for many people.
Acrylic prints are also great for stand-alone prints, especially as very large prints, and will thrill our paying clients with the images we’ve done for them. Check out all of the wall art offerings from Photo Book Press for more ideas.
Mix and Match Modern Wall Art

I like to mix and match all sorts of artsy ideas when designing a modern wall art display. Framed photo art, paintings, metal prints, acrylic prints, canvas wraps, and even items such as an old camera (think Art Deco Kodaks) can all get mixed together. Think of it as your own personal tapestry and have fun with it!
