I've used GoPros for a long, long time. In fact, my first GoPro was the Hero 3 back in 2012, so I have a decade of experience using GoPros and GoPro accessories.
Now, I'll be the first to say that there are a ton of awesome accessories for GoPros out there (as well as some pretty terrible ones, too!). I can't possibly list every item I've ever used with my GoPros, so for the purposes of this guide, I'm presenting you with my top 11 GoPro accessories.
Bear in mind that I'm including GoPro Hero 9 accessories and GoPro Hero 10 accessories since they are interchangeable with both cameras. I happen to have both, so being able to swap accessories between them is a nice feature.
So, without further ado, let's get to the list!
Table of Contents
GoPro Hero 10 Specs and Features
Before we get into the list of the best GoPro accessories, let's quickly review the GoPro Hero 10 features, since it's currently the newest model. As you can see below, GoPro has packed the Hero 10 with some great capabilities:
The GoPro subscription is obviously an added expense, but it offers you firmware updates, unlimited cloud uploads at full resolution, and other GoPro-specific perks that make it a good option for many GoPro users. If you're contemplating investing in a Hero 10 and GoPro Hero 10 accessories, the subscription is something worth thinking about.
Where to Buy GoPro Accessories

For the purposes of this list, I've included Amazon links for each of the GoPro Accessories. However, Amazon isn't the only online retailer you can use to buy accessories for your GoPro.
Heavy hitters like Adorama, B&H, Walmart, and Target are just a few other options. Of course, you can also get GoPro accessories direct from the official GoPro website.
Since I'm an Amazon Prime member, I usually look there first, though I've also bought accessories at each of the outlets I listed above. GoPro accessories are pretty ubiquitous, so no matter where you look, you're likely to find something that you can use with your Hero 9 or Hero 10.
What are the Best GoPro Accessories?

As I noted earlier, I've been using GoPros for the better part of a decade. In that time, I've used some awesome accessories, some terrible accessories, and some so-so ones, too.
But, what works great for me and my workflow might not be the best GoPro accessory for your workflow. In other words, it might take you a little time to figure out just how you need or want to use your GoPro, and find the accessories that help you meet your goals.
Therefore, I should attach a disclaimer to my list of the best GoPro accessories - these items are what I have found to be of most use for me. You might have a totally different idea of what constitutes the best accessories for GoPros, and that's okay!
I'm providing this list to give you an idea of what's out there, what I've found useful, and what you might want to try to give your GoPro more functionality.
GoPro Accessories: My Top 11
PolarPro ND Filters for GoPro Hero 9 and GoPro Hero 10
PloarPro makes some incredible filters for digital cameras, and the Hero 9 and Hero 10 are no exception.
This three-filter pack features ND8, ND16, and ND32 filters, each with CinemaSeries glass that has 16 layers of coatings. All those coatings improve the durability of the glass, help reduce flare, and repel dirt and oils so you can capture crystal-clear footage.
These filters replace the stock UV filter on GoPros, so you don't need to stack filters. Instead, you get a secure, professional fit that ensures your GoPro footage is as good as it can be.
GoPro Media Mod
If you’re like me, you use your GoPro as a regular tool for creating all sorts of videos - first-person sequences, interviews, action shots - you name it!
A GoPro even makes a good B-Roll camera for full video productions with its 5.5K and 4K recording.
The GoPro Media Mod will be one of your heavily used GoPro Hero 9 accessories and GoPro Hero 10 accessories for these types of stations. It adds better audio capability with the directional mic as well as two cold shoes for additional videography tools, a 3.5mm mic port, and an HDMI output.
Of course, the Media Mod's tough, weather-resistant housing is a bonus, too, so you don't lose any of the ruggedness of your GoPro.
Octopad
One of the best GoPro Hero 9 accessories and GoPro Hero 10 accessories (or for any camera, really) is the OctoPad.
It might look a little weird with its weighted disk and a ¼-20 screw on top, but this is hands-down one of my favorite GoPro accessories because it's so useful.
The ¼-20 screw can take a camera directly, though most of us would likely use the included ball head or an optional extension arm.
The OctoPad's best feature, though, is that it has a non-slip pad on the bottom of the slightly flexible weighted disk body of the mount.
What that does is allow for placement of your action cam on virtually any type of surface, even if it’s angled up to 45 degrees. Years ago, I used my GoPro Hero 6 and the OctoPad as a dashcam system when I was off-roading, and the OctoPad stayed in place on the dash, despite the bumps and jolts of the trail!
Since many people end up using their GoPro as the go-to video camera for any vlogs they create (because of the 5.3K video), being able to place the camera anywhere they go is a huge boon for creating good-looking, interesting footage.
You can use two or three of these mounts for adding a light or a directional microphone to the mix, which will help you make your videos even more professional-looking.
The OctoPad can fit in many camera sling packs or backpacks, and it gives exceptional support to cameras as large as Full Frame DSLRs, so you’ll end up using it as more than an action cam mount. It’s one of my personal favorite GoPro Hero 10 accessories, and it's priced right, too - around $30.
GoPro Suction Cup Mount
In terms of sheer functionality, the GoPro suction cup mount might be the most versatile of GoPro accessories.
A suction cup allows you to mount your GoPro to your car, motorcycle, RV, boat, or virtually any other type of vehicle. Heck, with an industrial-strength suction cup that holds strong at more than 150 miles per hour, you could even put it on a plane!
GoPro also implemented a quick-release base to make it easy to move your GoPro from one location to the next. It's just a simple, quick and easy, and convenient GoPro accessory to have in your kit.
GoPro Shorty Tripod
As far as GoPro accessories go, a grip is something you definitely need in your collection. The GoPro Shorty Tripod is an excellent choice.
It's really a three-in-one device: a tripod, an extension pole, and a grip. I typically use it as a grip, but having the other capabilities is nice.
When it's collapsed down, the Shorty Tripod can easily fit in your pocket or a small pouch in a backpack. That makes it both functional and easy to carry!
GoPro 3-Way 2.0 Arm/Tripod
If you want a GoPro Hero 9 accessory or GoPro Hero 10 accessory that's a little more robust than the Shorty Tripod, the GoPro 3-way 2.0 arm/tripod is a great choice.
This gadget is also a three-in-one device that can be used as a grip, extension pole, or tripod, just like the Shorty.
However, the extension arm on this device is longer to give you the necessary reach for better group selfie shots.
There's also an integrated ball joint so you can change the camera angle without repositioning the mount.
GoPro Enduro Batteries
One thing you definitely do not want is to run out of battery life for your GoPro. One way to protect against that is to invest in GoPro Enduro batteries.
These batteries give you added runtime over standard GoPro batteries due to their advanced 1720mAh lithium-ion construction. Not only that, these batteries outperform standard batteries in a wide range of temperatures and offer up to 40 percent improvement in the GoPro Hero 10 when using its high-performance settings.
These batteries are compatible with the Hero 9 as well, and in either the Hero 9 or Hero 10, you get faster-than-normal charging times. That makes them must-have GoPro accessories!
GoPro Dual Charger
Why stop at having improved GoPro batteries when you can pair them with a GoPro Dual Charger?
This charger optimizes the process so you get fully-charged batteries more quickly. And since you can charge two batteries for your Hero 9 or Hero 10 at the same time, you'll be able to get back to filming sooner rather than later.
Charging occurs via USB port, but if you want to optimize charging, use the optional GoPro Supercharger.
The Dual Charger even comes with a spare Enduro battery!
SmallRig Cool Ballhead Super Camera Clamp
What the Smallrig Cool Ballhead offers is a variety of mounting options for your GoPro Hero 9 or Hero 10.
It can mount to a tripod, a bike handle, a table, or virtually any other surface with its clamping mechanism. And since it has a 1/4-inch thread and a double ball head, it's an ideal option for fine-tuning the positioning of your GoPro.
This device is small, lightweight, and made of aluminum alloy and stainless steel, so it will be just as durable as your GoPro! That's a feature you definitely want in your GoPro accessories.
GoPro Bite Mount
First-person footage is great to have, and to get it, you need a mount like the GoPro Bite Mount.
As far as GoPro accessories go, this is one of the best for filming in wet environments since it comes with a GoPro Floaty. The wraparound design of the Floaty allows you to see the front LCD on the GoPro Hero 10 and gives you easy access to the rear touchscreen as well.
There's an integrated mounting buckle, too, so you can quickly change angles and perspectives, or the mount you use with the device.
SanDisk Extreme Pro Memory Cards
GoPros take MicroSD cards, and for my money, you simply can't beat SanDisk Extreme Pro cards.
These cards offer up to 160MB/s read speeds and 90MB/s write speeds. They can easily accommodate 4K UHD video, and with the SanDisk Memory Zone app, you can easily manage all your photo and video files.
These cards are waterproof, shockproof, temperature proof, and X-ray proof as well - just what you want in a memory card for GoPro!
Which GoPro Accessories are Right for You?

So, there you have it - my favorite GoPro accessories for 2022. As I said earlier, these accessories work well for what I do, but they might or might not fit into your workflow.
That means the only question left is...which GoPro accessories are right for you?
Use this list as a guide, do more research on your own, and above all, use your GoPro a lot to find out what accessories you need to add to your kit.
Happy GoProing!!
