Bad joke to pull on photographers gear

9 months 1 week ago #656973 by Peter Nunez
Photography meetup today ended on a bad note.  One of the photographers thought it would be funny to put Vaseline on another photographers front glass element of his 70-200mm.  The photographer who was the butt of the joke was pissed.  And honestly seeing how long it took for him to remove it.  I don't blame him.  I'm not talking about a thin coating, it was rather thick and it took a long time to remove.

Note to all you funny guys out there, don't do this.

The thickness is not the most difficult but there last layer that
is in contact with the glass… and it is not easily water soluble.

I would have had a very physical reaction to such a stupidity.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

I would have had the guy pay for the cleaning bill of the lens getting done professionally.

That's not a practical joke, that's vandalism.

Bad move. I would seriously have the guy pay to have it professionally cleaned as well.

Oh my, that isn't very cool at all.  I would have been telling the person to clean it.  Don't they know that oils and such aren't exactly good for cameras!?
