The first mobile phones equipped with a camera became available in the early 2000s. Samsung's SCH-V200 phone was released in 2000 in South Korea. Sharp’s J-SH04 came several months later but was only available in Japan. Phones with integrated cameras were introduced two years later. The Sanyo SPC-5300 had a camera with rudimentary zoom, white balance controls, and three user-controlled tones. The Nokia 7650 had a 176x208 pixel display, which was described at the time as being “large.” My how things have changed!

Editor’s Picks: PhotographyTalk Member Photos of the Week
Untitled by Hira Singh
This beautiful portrait of a child displays precisely how to use selective lighting to get a stunning, impactful image. This one is impressive, to say the least! Great work Hira!
Untitled by Trisha Fitzpatrick
Night photography in cities can be a tricky beast, but PT member Trisha Fitzpatrick seems to have mastered it well! This image is a stunner, with an excellent balance between areas of dark and light. And that bridge is gorgeous too!
Untitled by Serdar
Take to the skies with a flock of seagulls in this beautiful nature photo. The light white and blues of the sky are a perfect backdrop to highlight the details of the birds’ feathers. It looks like a cover for Jonathan Livingston Seagull!
Untitled by Katharina
You can almost feel the warmth of the setting sun and the splash of the waves on your feet just by looking at this beautiful image. Katharina was able to capture the intensity of the sun, without losing the view of the foreground and the ocean. It would be nice to be on that beach right now!
Carolina Wren by Scott Ditzel
Get up close and personal with this pretty little Carolina Wren as it feeds while hanging upside down on a feeder. Scott framed the bird perfectly, with a gloriously blurry background and just enough of the feeder in the frame for us to see what the bird is eating - a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!
