In the age of social media, more and more photography bans are being placed on churches, temples and other important religious sites to protect the sanctity of worshippers there.
But, the officials in charge of Durham Cathedral, a nearly 1,000-year-old Christian church in England, are lifting their photography ban for social media.
Durham Cathedral, which was rated as the Guardian readers choice for Britain's best building, is a protected World Heritage Site in the UK countryside.
Canon chancellor Charlie Allen said, "It is important for us to reflect that we are a living, working, progressive place of worship, with many visitors wanting to create lasting visual memories of their time at Durham Cathedral."
As part of the lift, a photography competition will be held to celebrate.
Editor's Tip: Do you have beautiful photos but aren't sure how to display them? Turn them into large format prints! See what your photos look like as fine art.
The photography ban is lifted starting Friday, so don't go hopping on any international flights just this moment.
