2. The Canon PowerShot A4000 IS compact camera is the first in the series to be equipped with an 8x optical zoom lens. This translates to 28–224mm in the 35mm format. You have the wide angle end of the focal length range to help you frame better group shots as well as capture a wider view of vacations, holidays and all the events in your life. Move into the middle of the range, approximately 70–175mm, and you have the perfect perspective for pleasing, expressive portraits of family members, friends and all those wonderful people you meet. Go to the extreme focal length, 175–224mm, to fill the frame with a distant scene or person.

3. The PowerShot A4000 IS digital camera showcases many of Canon’s legendary imaging technologies. Its 16-megapixel image sensor and advanced Canon DIGIC 4 processor do all the heavy lifting. On the outside, you’re taking photos and recording HD video often with only the use of a single finger. Inside, however, the sensor and processor are working hard to give every scene and subject—from girls’ weekend to that romantic cruise—sharper details, vibrant colors and a natural feel.

5. Face Detection Technology in the PowerShot A4000 IS works similarly. Face Detection scans the faces of people in your scene and adjusts exposure automatically to give everyone natural skin tones.

6. Recording 720p HD video on the Canon PowerShot A4000 IS digital camera is one of those functions that only require the use of one finger. Simply press the designated Movie Record button to capture all the action.

7. Intelligent IS technology is paired with an optical Image Stabilizer, which automatically recognizes the kind of scene and subject you want to shoot. It then chooses one of six different IS modes (for stills or video) adjusting for any camera shake that could occur, so you have clear, crisp images.
