Why Printed Photos are So Important

As a professional photographer who prices my work accordingly, I constantly have to deal with people questioning the value of photography. And, while dealing with these questions can be tiring, I do understand them. It’s difficult to spend hundreds of dollars on yourself and that’s exactly what photography is.
But, I get even more questions about the value of photos. It seems that once I’ve convinced someone to hire me and get their digital images, they are far less willing to purchase prints for themselves from me. Of course, it is an added expense. But, I genuinely believe that everyone should have printed photos hanging around their homes.
One of the main reasons why printed photos are so important, at least to my clients, is that they’ve already spent money on my fees. To me, it doesn’t make sense to do that and then to not be able to see the photos all the time.
Of course, there are a ton of other reasons why printed photos are so important. I’m going to go over some of them here.

They Represent Our Values

I believe that the number one reason why you need printed photos is that they represent who you are. You spend money buying expensive furniture to put in your house because the way you decorate your home is a reflection of yourself. You may fill that home with plants or animals or art. All of this decor is expensive, but it says a lot about who you are and what you value to other people who visit your home.
Photos can help you represent your values. If your home is filled with photos of your extended family, then someone visiting you would pick up on the fact that family values are important to you pretty quickly.
Conversely, if your home is filled with pictures of you traveling all over the world, then they will understand that you value exploring.
One of the biggest reasons why printed photos are so important is that they help you to explain who you are and what you stand for.
They Are Inspiring

Another reason why printed photos are so important is that they help to keep you inspired.
As a photographer, I keep my own photos all over my house because they help me to remember why I work so hard at my photography business. Most of my photos that I hang around my house are of my son and my wife and I know that I’m working hard to provide them with a good life.
But, even if you aren’t a professional photographer, I still think that photos are inspiring. Photos of yourself and your friends may remind you to reach out to someone you haven’t spoken to in a long time. Photos of you traveling may remind you to book your next vacation.
I think that one of the biggest reasons why printed photos are so important is that they inspire you to keep chasing the things you want out of life.

They Are Heirlooms

Printed photos are so important because you can keep them in your family and pass them onto your children and grandchildren as family heirlooms.
Some of my best memories growing up were exploring the hallways of my parents’ home because they were absolutely filled with photos from long before I was ever thought of. There were photos of my parents wedding day, photos of my parents going out in Vegas, and photos of friends that had passed away years ago.
Now that I’ve inherited some of these photos, I know how priceless they are.
And, if you have damaged photos that you want to pass down to your children as an heirloom, you don’t need to worry because they can be fully restored.
PhotoRepairPro, the photo repair company that worked with Costco for years, can restore just about any photo for a flat rate of $35.
PhotoRepairPro can fix problems like fading, cracks, and bleeding. They can also restore photos to their original condition, or they can colorize them.
For that rate of $35, you’ll get an online proof, a JPEG download, and two 5x7 prints shipped to your home.
They Tell Stories

The last reason why printed photos are so important is that they tell stories.
We wouldn’t bother taking photos if this wasn’t the case. Photos remind us of important times in our lives, like weddings and births and deaths. They also remind us of where we are going. One of my most treasured photos is one of me at my college graduation standing next to my beaming father. In that moment, neither of us knew where my life was heading, yet that photo captured the hope on both of our faces in a way no words ever could.
I think that the importance of photography overall is that it allows us to tell stories about ourselves and our friends and our families.
With printed photos, you are able to share these stories with anyone who visits your home.
