We’ve looked at the bet cameras and tripods, now it’s time to focus on camera bags. I don’t think I have to mention how important it is to have the right protection when moving your gear around. Investing thousands of dollars in gear but being cheap when it comes to how you store and carry it could result in unwanted small tragedies. So here is a list of camera bags that I believe are worth checking out at the end of 2013.
10. Tamrac 5608 Pro 8
This shoulder bag from Tamrac is a good option for carrying two camera bodies, and up to five lenses plus a flash gun. The main compartment is foam padded, the zipper is Storm Tight for security in heavy weather and the rings are obviously made of metal. It’s a solid option for both urban and nature photographers, especially since it can handle rough weather.

9. Think Tank 747 Retrospective 7
This is an ideal bag street photographers and urban explorers. It has room for a standard DSLR with 2-3 lenses, and it also features a pocket for an iPad or an 11”MacBook Air. Besides the fact that it looks awesome, the design doesn’t scream out that it’s a camera bag, so you have a greater chance of going “bellow the radar” if the situation calls for it.

8. Kata KT DL-DR-466
Moving on to the first backpack on the list, this model from Kata is lightweight, yet offers a high load capacity. It is a great every day bag and one of the cool features is the ease of access. You can get to your camera by just slinging it around one shoulder. Kata are known for the high quality materials they use to make their bags, and this is no exception.

7. Crumpler MD-07-06A 7 Million Dollar Home Bag
As a company, Crumpler started out by making messenger bags. They have, of course, extended their field of activity into photography and have proven that their bags are suited for real world needs. The materials this, and probably all their bags, is made are top quality. To be more specific, we’re talking about water resistant 900D shell and 150 Ripstop lining. Other than the functional purposes, it looks great and don’t act like it’s not something that matters. It comes in a variety of colors and it is also fairly customizable.

6. Tamrac 5788 Evolution 8 Photo/Laptop Sling
Sling backpacks are pretty popular and one of the reasons is flexibility. It can be carried in three ways: as a classic backpack or a sling on either shoulder. It is a solid option for carrying a DSLR with a standard lens mounted and a few more, plus a 15, 6” laptop. Like most bags of this class, it features multiple card pockets and small storage spaces. The internal dividers are foam padded, like much of the entire backpack.

5. Think Tank Glass Limo
Do you have a meaningful lens in your life? The Glass Limo looks like the perfect option to carry it. It is a lightweight alternative to those heavy, uncomfortable cases that come with 500mm and 600mm lenses. But it’s not just for carrying large lenses, as you can use that space to accommodate two DSLR kits.

4. Tamrac 5587 Expedition 7X
There are multiple ways to carry camera gear, but again we turn to the backpack as it probably is the most preferred choice. The Tamrac Expedition 7x, at number two on our list, is one of the best backpacks available on the market. Let’s start by saying it’s big, so it’s probably not the best option if you only have one body and 2-3 lenses. You will look like an astronaut from behind for a reason: it can carry a very impressive load, made of 2 camera bodies and several lenses plus a ton of other accessories and most 15 inch laptops. Needless to say it’s perfectly capable of going anywhere, regardless of rough conditions.
